XS650 Custom

XS650 Custom

(HondaScoot)
Stretched, Lowered, Black and Chrome is what the customer wanted. This was an 8 month build on evenings and weekends.

The Yamaha 650 retains the stock engine, triple trees, and forks. About everything else was changed in some manner.

Customer would not permit any pin stripes or color scheme.

Shadow Low Rider

This bike's modifications were completed in April 2006. Since completion I have ridden it only a couple of hundred miles. It cuts through traffic very well and handles the twisties too. The seat height is now 21" (about up to my knee).

The stock bike was in near new condition.

Instruments: All of the stock instruments remain intact. It also retains the Turn, Neutral, and Oil indicator lights. All gages and lights work perfectly. The stock wiring harness is intact and ultra reliable.

Engine: The engine, carbs, and exhaust were untouched. It is a Honda for goodness sake. The V twin, water cooled, 6 valve, engine pulls good through out the RPM range.

Frame: The rear subframe was cut to remove the stock liscense plate and rear turn signals. The stock helmet lock and tie down pins were shaved. We painted the frame and subframe where needed with Semi Gloss Paint.

Swing Arm: The swing arm is stock. We drilled and tapped the left side for the new lisence plate and tail light bracket we fabricated. We installed a lowering kit to the upper rear shock. This lowered the bike 2" in the rear. We also lowered the front forks to keep the frame level and to preserve the handling/cornering abilities.

Rear Fender: The rear fender was shotened to show off the big rear tire.

Lights: The Tail light is a Cat Eye LED and is mounted to the swing arm. It is very bright as safety is always a concern. The stock tail light is now the rear turn signals.

Paint: Base Coats of copper pearl and black were sprayed to create the panels and stripes. Silver and red pin stripes were applied on and around the black sections for color break up. Clear coat was then shot over everything.

Handle Bars: The stock bars were replaced with drag bars. Checkered grips and custom mirrors were then added.

Seat: A very cool Italian seat was mounted. It adds to the sweeping curves of this bike and matches the new hand grips.

(1985HondaMagnaPro...)
1985 Magna project. Runs good but needs TLC, lots of minor and some not so minor parts and paint. Hope to have her completed in less than a year if the creek don't rise, but it really doesn't matter how long it takes since this is more for personal therapy than anything else. I will try to keep you posted as I progress and would appreciate any advice, and or assistance, technical or otherwise from anyone out there. My contact information is on the site and would like to hear from anyone good or bad comments.

We painted this bike for our one of our own! Thanks Brian.

Paint: Base Coat / Clear Coat Black and red with gold leaf pin stripping. We added miltary issue decals prior to clear coating. I was told that by clearing over the decals that they will stay put past mach III (that's fast for a Shadow). We painted the fenders, tank, and side covers in this fashion.
