Clutch Rebuild

(Justin)
Once I got it running and got a chance to spend a little time riding, I realized that the engine didn't seem to be fully pulling the wheels like it should so I'm tearing apart the clutch to replace the springs, friction plates, and steel plates. I found a good deal on Barnett Kevlar friction plates and Barnett steels at Jireh. I decided to use Barnett plates rather than generic oem in order to give this clutch every possible performance advantage, which it needs because the stroker engine presumably can generate a lot of torque. I'm also going to install a Tamer II while I'm in there, I've read that this helps smooth engagement, a big plus for a grabby old sportster clutch.

The Mutant mutated again

(K.G.Bcycles)
Well the "mutant" mutated once more. After winning a 1st place at the local bike show. The bike pretty much refused to run.So after tear down and inspection a full rebuild was in store.i.e. new pistons,rings,rod... few welds to the block some new treads heli coils, carb overhaul, new used heads, turns out the old ones had some bad intake valve seats.Unseen in the first go around.Well she kicks on the first try and runs like a raped ape.Not bad for a girls bike. UPDATE new year new look once again for the mutant.D repainted it Blue and some funky ass 2 into 1 exhaust sounds fucking awesome. Still kicks over 1st try.

This is my baby, Betty. My neighbor owned it for over twenty years and the first time I seen it I was 8 yrs old. I started buggin him about selling it when I was 12 and I finally got him drunk enough to sell it to me when I was 21! It took a while but I got it! It's a 1971 ironhead, kicker only, top and bottom end just redone, new paint, exhaust, just about everything. Here are some pics before and after. It was sittin in his garage for 6 yrs when I bought it and all I did when I got it home was hook up battery charger and put some gas in it and it started on the third kick!

It started out to be an old school chopper but the availability of parts may necessitate it being bobber which will be cool if that's how it turns out.

Bobber Project Is Finally Done!

So the project is done... Let me know what you think and how it turned out. I have put it in two shows so far and it has won best in class both times... Kind of blew me away to be honest. People are really blown away with the clutch/shift set up.... It akward and scary to ride but fun none the less. Worth every penney I spent and the knowledge gained was incredible.

More starter problems

(Justin)
It ate the new starter, chewed its gears off just like the last one. Trying to figure out what the problem is before I put another starter in there...
